About the Role
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor will be instrumental in guiding the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF) to embed its transformative approach to GESI across all its operations, partnerships, and investments. This role is crucial for enhancing access and affordability of sanitation and menstrual health products and services for all, with a specific focus on women, girls, and vulnerable populations. The Advisor will collaborate closely with the SHF Head of Strategy and Performance and other technical teams globally, contributing to a small advisory unit dedicated to GESI coordination, advocacy, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical input to SHF's annual planning, ensuring a GESI perspective is integrated.
- Monitor and refine indicators for GESI mainstreaming within SHF operations and analyze data for periodic reviews and reporting.
- Analyze global gender challenges impacting SHF operations and program delivery.
- Draft GESI-related sections for SHF's internal and external reports, publications, and success stories.
- Support the development of GESI thematic priorities in country plans and new geographical areas.
- Convene stakeholders to advance GESI-related activities and review funding proposals from a GESI standpoint.
- Develop advocacy strategies to promote GESI mainstreaming in the sanitation and menstrual health sectors.
- Formulate key messages for SHF leadership on GESI within the context of sanitation and menstrual health.
- Identify strategic advocacy opportunities and coordinate partners for joint advocacy efforts.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international development, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with an additional two years of relevant experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in gender equality and gender-sensitive programming within the sanitation and/or menstrual health sectors, including policy development in these areas.
- Proficiency in English is required; basic knowledge of French is desirable.
