About Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc
Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is the country's leading producer of raw, refined, and specialty sugars, employing over 9000 people. It is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic project portfolio ensuring that all project deliverables are on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Provide technical and strategic oversight across all project stages, from inception to handover.
- Drive a reliable delivery model through the flexible deployment of Project & Technical Support Engineers, in line with company, government, and Site Management requirements.
- Align all site capital project planning, prioritization, and execution with the strategic direction, portfolio priorities, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure contractor and supplier pre-qualification and assurance processes are in line with governance frameworks.
- Ensure a robust project handover process with full integration of the asset and its associated data into operational systems.
- Provide project-level leadership and full accountability for the technical, financial, and operational integrity of a project, considering all internal and external regulations.
- Implement processes for securing and deployment of Project Engineers and Foremen as approved by the Capital Programme Manager and Site General Manager.
- Adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial), with a postgraduate education in Project Management (PMP certification and international registration).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project management and delivery of capital projects, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in technical oversight, engineering assurance, or similar roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong familiarity with governance processes, capital budgeting, project controls, and risk management frameworks.
- Good business acumen, with ability to anticipate, interpret, and respond to changes impacting on projects.
