This consultancy involves collaborating with the Malawi team and the Ministry of Health (MoH) to execute activities for The Adolescents and Children HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment and Virus Elimination (ACHIEVE) Project. The focus will be on national and district levels within Malawi, aiming to enhance community-based health service delivery, particularly for expectant mothers and newborns. This will be achieved by utilizing the integrated community health information system (iCHIS) and by building the capacity and providing supervision for community health workers in two key ACHIEVE districts: Balaka and Thyolo.
The consultant will be instrumental in transforming implementation efforts into tangible outcomes. This includes assisting district teams in aligning plans with community needs, fostering collaboration among partners, and ensuring timely reporting and data integration via iCHIS.
This role is based in Lilongwe, Malawi, and is open to Malawian nationals. It requires up to 60% local travel.
In collaboration with Pact and the Ministry of Health, Last Mile Health (LMH) is preparing to implement the forthcoming Adolescents and Children HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment, and Virus Elimination (ACHIEVE) Project in Malawi. Within the framework of ACHIEVE, LMH will concentrate on strengthening maternal and child health systems by improving the skills and capabilities of community health workers (CHWs), supervisors, and district officials. This initiative centers on upgrading and deploying the integrated Community Health Information System (iCHIS), alongside enhancing the skills and supervision of CHWs in Community-Based Maternal and Newborn Care (CBMNC) across the districts of Balaka and Thyolo. Working alongside the Ministry of Health’s Digital Health Division, Community Health, and Reproductive Health Directorate, LMH will empower CHWs to provide timely care to pregnant women, track patients, identify critical danger signs requiring referral, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Through ACHIEVE’s Objective 3, which focuses on Strengthening Health Systems For Sustainability And Transition To Government Of Malawi Ownership, LMH is actively advancing three strategic priorities:
Collectively, these efforts are designed to improve service delivery at the district level, strengthen emergency referral systems, and ensure the long-term financial and operational sustainability of maternal and child health services in Malawi.
The two District Implementation Consultants (Achieve Project) will work closely with the Senior Manager - Program Delivery and Country Programs team to provide support for the project's financial and operational processes.
