About
National Bank of Malawi plc, a leading financial institution, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Financial Reporting Manager, based at its Head Office in Blantyre.
Key Duties
- Manage the financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).
- Prepare and submit regulatory and external financial reports.
- Manage tax affairs of the Bank and its subsidiaries.
- Oversee the management of the Bank's Fixed Assets.
- Coordinate with internal business units for accurate financial presentations, including Expected Credit Losses (ECLs).
- Facilitate financial planning and performance analysis for the Finance Division.
- Provide comprehensive Management Information System (MIS) reports.
- Ensure the timely resolution of all internal and external audit issues.
- Report to the Chief Finance Officer on developing and enhancing financial records systems and preparing annual financial statements.
Qualifications
- Must be a Chartered Accountant – CA(M) or equivalent, with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university is an added advantage.
- Not less than 3 years of managerial experience in financial services or a reputable external audit firm.
- Excellent understanding and application of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Strong leadership skills for developing and effectively supervising direct reports.
- Good understanding of the commercial banking industry, including knowledge of products, services, and market trends.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet exacting deadlines.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Financial Services Act, Banking Act, Reserve Bank of Malawi Directives, Malawi Company Law, and Taxation Law.
- Proficiency in Information Technology skills, including Microsoft Office applications, MIS applications (e.g., Cognos), and core banking systems.
- Possess good analytical, drive, self-motivation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
