The Catholic University of Malawi is seeking applications for the following roles at its Montfort Campus in Nguludi, Chiradzulu.

ADMINISTRATIVE POSITION

Position: Senior ICT Officer (Systems Programmer) – 1 Post

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to define end-user requirements and specifications.


• Design algorithms and flowcharts for the development of new software programs and systems.


• Produce efficient and well-structured code aligned with project requirements.


• Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and enhance existing software.


• Gather and analyze user feedback to improve software performance.


• Incorporate user feedback to propose enhancements for current software products.


• Develop technical documentation to guide future software development initiatives.

Attributes and Competencies

• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate a strong command of fundamental programming languages and relational databases. Possess the ability to implement modern concepts in APIs and Microservices.


• Analytical Thinking: Exhibit robust problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex system errors and debug extensive codebases using various tools.


• Writing and Fixing Code: Execute diagnostic tests to identify errors and rectify faulty code. Translate design specifications and logic into clean, functional code using languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, PHP, and SQL.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
