Chief Clinical Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee clinical and paramedical staff at the health centre.
- Conduct patient diagnoses and prescribe appropriate treatments.
- Perform ward rounds to assess admitted patients, review treatment plans, and facilitate discharges.
- Manage referral cases from the outpatient department.
- Execute minor surgical procedures and respond to theatre emergencies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Possession of a Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Current registration with the Medical Council of Malawi.
Senior Clinical Technician
Grade: J
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct ward rounds for admitted patients, evaluating potential discharges and treatment adjustments.
- Attend to patients referred from the outpatient department.
- Perform routine surgical operations and handle theatre emergencies.
- Develop and implement comprehensive health centre programs, overseeing their execution and impact.
- Organize and deliver refresher training for junior staff.
- Ensure accurate and complete data entry into HMIS registers and associated tools.
- Facilitate prompt data processing and distribution to relevant stakeholders, including timely HMIS report submission.
- Monitor key health indicators regularly to inform service planning and management.
- Supervise clinical and paramedical personnel.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a reputable institution.
- A minimum of four years of professional experience.
- Current registration with the Medical Council of Malawi.
Community Health Nurse Midwife Technician
Grade: J
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to mothers on maternal and child health, including family planning education.
- Deliver mobile clinic services to communities and schools, addressing various health concerns.
- Assess community health needs in areas such as sanitation, immunization, water access, income-generating activities, nutrition, and home care.
- Operate antenatal, under-five, postnatal, child spacing, and nutrition clinics.
- Deliver essential nursing care tailored to community requirements.
- Ensure accurate and complete data recording within HMIS guidelines.
- Analyze health information promptly and disseminate findings to stakeholders, including submitting quarterly reports.
- Routinely monitor health indicators using HMIS tools and guidelines, implementing improvements for service quality and community health outcomes.
- Provide training and feedback to subordinate staff on data collection, analysis, and utilization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Diploma in Community Nursing.
- Three years of relevant experience.

Assistant Accountant
Grade: K
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial operations, trends, costs, revenues, and commitments to forecast future performance and advise management on financial strategy.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting systems, leveraging modern technology for recordkeeping.
- Create, manage, and analyze budgets, producing reports that compare projected and actual costs.
- Establish account tables and ensure accurate classification of financial entries.
- Examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
- Interpret financial policies related to accounts.
- Supervise all accounting staff across the health centres.
- Manage the daily operations of the main accounts department.
- Report on the financial status of the health centre to management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
- Membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM).

Clinical Technician
Grade: K
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-operative patient assessments.
- Order necessary diagnostic tests for patient medication management.
- Administer anaesthesia to patients.
- Report patient status changes to surgeons or relevant medical personnel.
- Manage fluid, electrolyte, and acid/base imbalances.
- Provide shock management.
- Administer emergency anaesthesia for life-saving surgeries.
- Train junior staff in anaesthesia techniques and patient resuscitation for adults and newborns.
- Ensure accurate and complete recording of anaesthesia data in HMIS registers and instruments.
- Facilitate timely data processing and dissemination, including HMIS report submission.
- Monitor health indicators and utilize data for service planning and management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Diploma in Clinical Medicine from an accredited institution, with at least three years of experience in primary healthcare.

Nurse Midwife Technician
Grade: K
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing services to patients.
- Develop and deliver health education talks for patients.
- Oversee ward cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Request necessary medications from the pharmacy.
- Identify critically ill patients requiring specialized attention.
- Prepare patients for Caesarean section procedures.
- Supervise patient care during transfer to and from the operating theatre.
- Maintain accurate patient records in registers and charts.
- Analyze patient data and submit periodic reports to the Senior Clinical Technician.
- Accompany Clinical Officers during ward rounds, clinics, and medical procedures.
- Compile handover notes for incoming nursing staff.
- Participate in morning report sessions.
- Prepare death reports.
- Provide antenatal care support to expectant mothers.
- Administer ART treatment.
- Attend to mothers during labour and delivery.
- Conduct postnatal checkups in the labour ward.
- Care for sick infants in the nursery.
- Receive and resuscitate newborns following Caesarean sections.

Pharmacy Assistant

Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor drug inventory levels and initiate orders from the store.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy, including floors, benches, and stock containers.
- Pre-package medications for efficient dispensing.
- Receive prescriptions, verifying dosage and patient details for both outpatient and inpatient services.
- Dispense medications to patients, providing clear instructions on usage and storage.
- Ensure proper drug storage conditions are maintained.
- Monitor drug stocks using HMIS tools and guidelines, reporting to the designated supervisor.
- Manage pharmaceutical supplies for hospital wards and departments.
Qualification and Experience:
- A Certificate in Pharmacy registrable in Malawi.
Laboratory Assistant
Grade: L

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform sample processing.
- Operate laboratory equipment for bench work.

Senior Home Craft Worker
Grade: L
Reporting to: Community Health Nurse Midwife Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weigh and assess children under five years of age.
- Conduct anthropometric measurements.
- Identify individuals who are sick, malnourished, or underweight.
Qualification & Experience:
- A Certificate or Diploma in Nutrition, Community Home Craft Management.
- A minimum of six years of experience.
Home Craft Worker
Grade: M
Reporting to: Senior Home Craft Worker
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all Maternal and Child Health programs.
- Provide patient care through home visits, assessing needs, developing care plans, administering treatments, and referring patients with social or emotional challenges.
- Monitor the effectiveness of outreach and static clinics.
- Supervise and oversee family planning and antenatal care services.
- Manage and monitor the Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit.
- Facilitate collaboration among community health care teams.
Qualification & Experience:
- A Certificate in Food and Nutrition from a recognized institution, with 3 years of experience.
Senior Clerical Officer
Grade: L
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize patient files according to their respective wards (e.g., Gynaecology, Post Normal, Post Abnormal).
- File patient records accurately on shelves.
- Retrieve patient files from shelves in preparation for clinic appointments, based on lists provided by Ward Clerks and Sisters.
- Collect data from all hospital wards.
- Compile and submit monthly in-patient returns to headquarters.
- Gather data from private doctors and dispensaries within the hospital premises.
- Compile monthly out-patient returns from all private hospitals and dispensaries.
- Record data in relevant registers and instruments following HMIS guidelines.
- Compile monthly data reports and submit them to the designated supervisor.
- Coordinate the procurement and distribution of health passports via the revolving fund.
Accounts Assistant
Grade: M
Reporting to: Assistant Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue receipts and prepare cheques.
- Verify authorization and issue salary cheques.
- Balance and update the salaries ledger.
- Record all receipts and cheques in the cash books.
- Prepare and record payment vouchers.
- Generate remittance payment vouchers and cheques.
- Prepare invoices and manage cash controls.
Qualification & Experience:
- A minimum Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
- Membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
