Timbercity Wood Technologies is a demand driven Malawian company finding its niche in the advanced technology of wood machining, wooden and carpentry products; interior designing; and sales of materials and services related to the wooden world using modern advanced machinery and technology. We are based in Blantyre with a footprint in Lilongwe and Mzuzu. We sale wooden products like kitchen units, chest drawers, TV stands, closets, beds, bar stools, inhouse bars, office/boardrooms set ups, wardrobes etc. We also sell MDF, melamine and all kinds of boards. Additionally, we do tiling, roofing and all work that requires state-of-the-art wooden technology and expertise.

We are therefore hiring like thinking individuals who would like to grow with us and be part of an employee centred workplace. All these positions are tenable at our Blantyre head office with extensive travelling to all parts of the country to meet customers’ requirements.

 

Accounts Assistants (2)

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible, amongst others, for:

• Financial Record Management: Maintaining accurate records of financial transactions, including journal entries, ledgers, invoices, receipts, and expense reports, ensuring all data is up-to-date and organized.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assisting with processing invoices, payments, and reconciliations, and monitor outstanding balances to ensure timely collections and payments.
• Bank and Account Reconciliation: Monitoring and reconciling bank accounts and other financial accounts to maintain accuracy.
• Reporting and Analysis: Preparing financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and variance analyses; assist with budget tracking and month-end or year-end closing processes.
• Administrative Support: Handling clerical duties including filing, data entry, scanning, cataloging accounting documents, and responding to vendor, client, or internal inquiries.
• Payroll Assistance: Supporting payroll processing.
• Compliance and Confidentiality: Ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

 

The successful candidate should have the following specifications, experience and skill sets:

• A diploma in Accounting.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting field.
• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in spreadsheets, accounting software, and internal databases.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately process financial data and identify discrepancies.
• Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple tasks, maintaining records, and supporting the finance team efficiently.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for liaising with clients, vendors, and internal departments.
