Graduate Engineer Trainee – (Distribution & Transmission) – 33 Positions
Location: All ESCOM Stations
Supervised by: Engineer
Purpose of the Role
The Graduate Engineer Trainee will support Engineers in the efficient planning, construction, loss reduction, and maintenance of Distribution and Transmission networks and associated infrastructure, ensuring optimal resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction, operational, and maintenance activities, including Revenue Protection programs, adhering to corporate objectives and standards.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and managing both scheduled and unscheduled power outages within your assigned area.
- Contribute to monitoring, inspecting, and certifying outsourced construction and maintenance projects to verify adherence to contractual obligations and quality benchmarks.
- Aid in compiling specifications and material quantities for maintenance-related procurement needs.
- Execute and coordinate regular inspections of the distribution network and associated equipment to pinpoint defects, potential risks, and system vulnerabilities.
- Facilitate thorough equipment testing prior to initial installation and re-installation.
- Provide support in the development and revision of construction and maintenance policies and programs.
- Engage in construction and maintenance tasks as required.
- Address inquiries concerning electricity distribution and supply.
- Monitor customer service activities to ensure compliance with the Customer Service Charter.
- Help prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned periodically.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Energy Systems, Energy Engineering, or Metallurgy & Materials Engineering.
- Membership with MEI/MIA.
Please Note: Successful candidates will participate in an intensive 72-week training program, providing support to Engineers and Senior Engineers in achieving set objectives. This training will combine classroom instruction with practical experience. Upon successful completion, trainees will be appointed to the substantive position of Assistant Engineer Grade ES8.
