Latitude 13 Degrees in Lilongwe is looking for a qualified, self-motivated, and dedicated individual to join their team as a Waiter/Waitress.
Position Summary
The Waiter/Waitress will be responsible for taking orders and serving food and beverages to restaurant guests. This role demands excellent service delivery, maintaining guest satisfaction, upholding professional standards, and contributing to profitability targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up tables with linens, silverware, and glassware.
- Inspect dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Arrange table settings and maintain a pristine dining area before, during, and after service.
- Welcome guests and guide them to their tables.
- Present menus and offer detailed information, including portion sizes, ingredients, and potential allergens.
- Stay informed about all menu items and daily specials.
- Describe menu items comprehensively, covering preparation, ingredients, and presentation.
- Address guest inquiries regarding food and beverages.
- Suggest menu items and upsell products when appropriate.
- Accurately record food and beverage orders, noting any special requests.
- Verify guest identification for all alcoholic beverage service.
- Collaborate with bartenders to fulfill beverage orders.
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to process and expedite food orders efficiently.
- Apply proper food handling and service techniques to ensure hygiene standards.
- Ensure guests are completely satisfied with their food, beverages, and service.
- Monitor guest needs and provide prompt assistance.
- Handle guest complaints with professionalism and courtesy.
- Present bills and process payments.
- Clear tables and return items to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and hygiene policies.

Qualifications
- A secondary school certificate is required.
- Previous restaurant experience is considered an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged periods of standing; physical fitness is essential.
- Must be available to work both day and night shifts.
- Ability to lift heavy trays and food & beverage items.
