The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme champions volunteerism globally to foster peace and development. Volunteerism has the power to accelerate and reshape development, benefiting both communities and individual volunteers. UNV actively promotes volunteerism worldwide, encourages partners to integrate it into development initiatives, and mobilizes volunteers. Rooted in age-old traditions of community sharing and support, volunteerism is a core value. UN Volunteers contribute to development and peace alongside colleagues, host agencies, and local communities. Through their actions and conduct, UN Volunteers consistently promote volunteerism, enriching their understanding of local realities and fostering connections with the communities they serve, making their experience profoundly rewarding and productive.

Context

UNDP is actively progressing its People for 2030 Strategy, recognizing that empowering individuals is central to its evolution into a future-ready organization. In line with this initiative, UNDP Malawi aims to enhance the onboarding experience for all new staff through a streamlined online onboarding website. By ensuring a smooth onboarding process, UNDP cultivates a positive culture of sustained high performance. The UNV programme, as an agency within UNDP, is tasked with providing essential and relevant information regarding its operations for all newly recruited volunteers and personnel on the new online onboarding platform developed by UNDP Malawi.

Task Description

Under the guidance of the Field Unit, volunteers will be responsible for developing motion graphics to support the creation of introductory videos. These visuals may encompass, but are not limited to, the following topics:

• Introduction for International UN Volunteers
• Overview of the Malawian context
• Performance management
• Living conditions
• Security briefing
• Housing options
• The "buddy" system
• VISA and work permit processes
• Home leave
• Utilizing the UNV e-Campus
• Introduction for National UN Volunteers
• Security briefing
• The "buddy" system
• Performance management
• Utilizing the UNV e-Campus

Volunteers will play a crucial role in transforming this information into dynamic and visually engaging motion graphics suitable for orientation purposes.

Assignment Requirements

Required Experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency in motion graphics and video editing software, such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, or Canva.
• Adeptness at converting complex information into clear and captivating visual content.
• Strong understanding and application of design principles, including layout, branding, and typography.
• Ability to work autonomously, adhere to deadlines, and effectively incorporate feedback.
• Cultural sensitivity and exceptional visual storytelling capabilities.
• Proven track record in producing motion graphics or animated videos.
• Experience designing content for training, orientation, or awareness campaigns is beneficial.
