The organization provides biblically based training, savings services, and loans to restore dignity and break the cycle of poverty. The Agriculture Coordinator will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing all agriculture-related activities within HOPE Malawi, enhancing the existing savings group ministry with complementary agricultural training and support.
Key Duties
- Design program cycles and facilitate the development and implementation of project plans and budgets in coordination with operations managers.
- Prepare periodic operational plans and progress reports, coordinating human, financial, and material resources.
- Facilitate the implementation of Foundations for Farming and Sowers of HOPE (SoH) methodologies within church partner programs.
- Monitor project activities to ensure smooth implementation and provide coaching and mentoring to field coordinators and volunteers.
- Manage agriculture-related Listening, Monitoring & Evaluation (LM&E) activities, including survey design, training enumerators, data analysis, and collecting impact stories.
- Maintain close links with government departments and other organizations, coordinating meetings and events for church partners.
- Participate actively in savings group program team meetings and contribute to a Christ-centered culture, modeling servant-leadership.
- Actively participate in spiritual devotions, meetings, and retreats, ensuring personal spiritual growth and a Christ-centered mission focus.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Country Director, including participation in virtual and physical meetings, potentially involving international travel.
Qualifications
- Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or any related qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience working with communities in agriculture-related interventions.
- Understanding of Savings and Credit Associations (SCA) programs and a demonstrated ability to learn.
- Excellent understanding of cross-cultural communications, workplace relationships, and church relations.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Chichewa.
- Excellent computer-based communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Highly flexible, innovative, assertive, self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated experience in agriculture models like Foundations for Farming/Farming God’s Way and LM&E activities (e.g., survey designing and results analysis).
- Willingness to travel extensively.
