Our Mission
Our vision is to establish Africa as the world's first cashless continent.
In 2017, a significant portion of Sub-Saharan Africa's population remained unbanked, primarily due to prohibitive fees, geographical barriers to accessing financial institutions, and limited card acceptance. This lack of access forces individuals to safeguard their savings precariously and compels small business owners to rely on lenders with exorbitant interest rates. Moreover, parents endure lengthy queues to settle school fees via cash transactions.
We are addressing these challenges by developing financial services that are seamless and universally accessible: free of account fees, immediately available, and accepted everywhere. Wave's services function reliably even in regions with inconsistent infrastructure, enabling effortless money transfers. Following our 2017 mobile app launch in Senegal, which facilitated cash deposits, withdrawals, and peer-to-peer and business payments, we have expanded to millions of users across nine countries and continue to experience rapid growth.
Our ambition to make Africa a cashless continent is where your contribution becomes vital.
