About

The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) is a parastatal body established under an Act of Parliament to regulate the gaming and lotteries industry in Malawi. To deliver on its core mandate, MAGLA seeks to recruit dynamic, results-oriented, and suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions.

Key Duties

  • Conducting regular inspections of gaming and lottery establishments to ensure fair play, adherence to rules and the absence of fraudulent activities.
  • Addressing and investigating complaints from patrons or stakeholders regarding gaming or lottery operations.
  • Reviewing financial records and transactions to detect any discrepancies.
  • Verifying that all employees, including dealers and staff, hold appropriate licenses and certifications as required by law.
  • Compiling reports on inspection findings, investigations and compliance status.
  • Collaborating with law enforcement agencies to address illegal gambling activities.
  • Assessing and Monitoring Promotional Competitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' practical experience in a related field in a reputable organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Act, Public Audit Act, Public Finance Management Act, Financial Crimes Act, Labour Laws, and other relevant legislation regulating the gaming and lotteries industry.
  • High integrity, independence, objectivity, confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong report writing and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and sound problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work outside normal working hours when required.
