LENGTH OF COMMITMENT : 1.5 months with the possibility of extension

About IPA:

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is an international non-profit research organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA works in partnership with development partners and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches and potential solutions to poverty problems using randomized evaluations in the fields of health, education, microfinance, governance, and agriculture. We also mobilize and support these decision makers to use these solutions to build better programs and policies at scale.

About the Project and the position

The project involves phone interviews to collect data from eligible respondents. Enumerators or field officers will be stationed at a call center and will complete assigned number of calls each day. The data will be collected electronically using SurveyCTO installed on tablets

About the Position: The Field Officer, under the general supervision of the Field Manager and within the limits of Innovations for Poverty Action-Malawi policies and procedures, is responsible for collection of high-quality data. In this project, the FO will be primarily making phone calls using the rapid digits dialing approach. Below are some of the general duties and responsibilities of the Field Officer, to be carried out as needed according to the determination of the Field Manager.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attend and actively participate in intensive staff training for at least 5 days.
  2. Report daily to the workstation(Call Centre) and maintain punctuality
  3. Completing required number of interviews by making calls to potential study participants
  4. Accurately and regularly report progress and challenges to Supervisors
  5. Schedule and honor appointments with study participants
  6. Be a team player: Maintain team cohesion and respect among team members.
  7. Demonstrate integrity, respect and understanding during interaction with potential study participants and fellow team members.
  8. Punctuality: both to a determined daily schedule, scheduled meetings with team leaders, and any other tasks
  9. Proper management and utmost care of IPA resources, tablets, phones, and any other equipment that may be assigned.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  1. At least a diploma from recognized Institution recognized in Malawi.
  2. Data collection experience with fluency in local languages spoken in Malawi
  3. Punctuality and teamwork

Desired:

  1. Experience in electronic data collection using Survey CTO, ODK.
  2. Experience collecting data using phone interviews
  3. Completed Human Subjects Protection certification by Collaborative Institutional Training Institute (CITI)
