Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international humanitarian organization providing medical aid to populations in crisis, committed to impartiality regardless of race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In Malawi, MSF collaborates with the Ministry of Health and local communities on a Cervical Cancer project in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts, and a CBO Project in Zalewa and Dedza District. This position is based in MSF's Blantyre Office.
Main Purpose
The Supervisor Medical Data Entry will ensure the completion of all medical data entry and data management activities within the mission database. This role involves supervising, organizing, and planning the work of Data Entry officers/operators, as well as identifying their training needs to ensure reliable data collection and excellent service support.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, organize, and plan the activities of Data Entry officers to maintain accurate records of medical activities and address their training requirements.
- Oversee the collation and entry of all project-identified data (e.g., morbidity, mortality, disease surveillance, nutrition, psychological and women’s health) into the appropriate data management systems, ensuring data quality.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on the performance of data officers.
- Ensure the proper use of specified software for recording data (e.g., Bahmni, DHIS2, ITAE, IRIS, Nextcloud).
- Maintain the accuracy of medical data in the mission's database according to MSF protocols and perform regular backups.
- Provide technical support and training to data entry officers/operators at project sites.
- Generate regular statistical reports for the medical team and report any missing information, major changes, or discrepancies to superiors.
Specific Accountabilities
- Track data requests from various project departments, gather reporting requirements, and ensure the quality and integrity of data across Health Information Systems (HIS) tools.
- Collaborate with CC Project departments to provide data quality feedback for patient management and analysis.
- Support HIS tool implementation by testing updates and documenting feedback.
- Enhance, synchronize, and manage HIS tools (Praxis, Access databases, Excel, EMR, DHIS2) to generate reliable reports, ensuring secure and efficient use.
- Support the implementation and use of data security protocols for patient information, adhering to MSF data security and confidentiality standards.
- Lead in the implementation of CC project qualitative and quantitative monitoring under manager supervision and in collaboration with the medical team.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, or Information and Technology (IT). Essential skills include proven computer literacy and qualifications in data management or statistics.
- Experience: At least one year of essential working experience in data management. Experience with medical data analysis and management is desirable.
- Language: Fluency in English and Chichewa.
