POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is dedicated to delivering superior diagnostic imaging services while overseeing the daily operations of the X-ray department. The incumbent will ensure adherence to hospital standards, patient safety protocols, equipment upkeep, and seamless coordination with medical staff and other hospital divisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Radiological Procedures and Patient Care
- Execute diagnostic X-ray examinations and other prescribed radiological procedures.
- Perform C-Arm fluoroscopy procedures within operating room settings as needed.
- Prepare patients for radiological examinations by providing clear instructions and guidance.
- Properly position patients and adjust equipment settings to capture optimal diagnostic images.
- Prioritize patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout all imaging processes.
- Ensure prompt processing of radiological images and timely delivery of results to referring physicians or surgeons.
- Operate radiology equipment safely and efficiently to produce accurate diagnostic images.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and coordinate scheduled maintenance with biomedical staff.
- Maintain equipment functionality, calibration, and readiness for use.
- Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Facilities Director and Director of Hospital and Field Work Operations.
- Propose acquisitions of new equipment, modifications, or necessary departmental upgrades.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Guarantee the production of high-quality diagnostic X-rays for all patients.
- Implement regular quality control measures to maintain peak image quality.
- Adhere strictly to hospital standards for patient care, safety, treatment protocols, documentation, and radiography safety practices.
- Uphold the professional code of ethics in all radiology practice activities.
- Lead and contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives in line with hospital standards.
Department Supervision and Staff Management
- Supervise junior staff and interns within the X-ray department, assigning daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure adequate task delegation during staff absences to maintain uninterrupted departmental operations.
- Provide training and guidance on imaging procedures and equipment operation to staff, interns, and other personnel as required.
Records Management and Documentation
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all radiological procedures and examinations.
- Ensure secure storage, diligent maintenance, and confidentiality of records in both manual and electronic systems.
- Verify that documentation and entries comply with all hospital policies.
Supplies and Inventory Management
- Prepare requisitions for necessary radiology supplies and consumables.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and closely monitor usage rates.
- Ensure a consistent supply of X-ray consumables and essential materials.
- Ensure appropriate preparation and availability of processing chemicals when needed.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding imaging procedures, patient concerns, and findings.
- Collaborate closely with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.
- Work in partnership with other hospital departments and wards to fulfill their imaging service needs.
Licensing, Policies, and Administrative Functions
- Process and maintain annual licensing for all X-ray equipment.
- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, rules, and protocols for radiology services.
- Implement approved departmental policies and operational procedures.
OTHER DUTIES
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency, aligning with hospital quality programs such as Safecare and DOH requirements.
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment by strictly adhering to infection prevention and control protocols, including handwashing and the use of PPE.
- Contribute to sustainable and eco-friendly work practices by minimizing waste, optimizing resource use, and actively participating in environmental stewardship initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of a Diploma in Radiology is required. Candidates holding a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology will be considered an advantage.
- Required licenses and certifications must be current.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience operating X-ray, ultrasound, and C-Arm Fluoroscopy technologies is preferred.
