- The Opportunity
- Save the Children is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Office Assistant for the HRSA Programme, based in Ntcheu. This role will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the office premises, including bathrooms, kitchen, and surrounding areas. The Office Assistant will also provide administrative support, such as photocopying, printing, binding, moving office items, and general office support services. The position reports directly to the Administrative Assistant.
- The successful candidate will ensure that office facilities are consistently maintained in a clean, safe, and professional condition. Additionally, the Office Assistant will contribute to office operations by facilitating mail distribution, monitoring office supplies, assisting with meetings and refreshments, and ensuring the proper functioning of office equipment like photocopiers and printers. This role requires close collaboration with programme and support teams to ensure efficient daily office operations.
- The Office Assistant may also be required to assist with reception duties, including greeting visitors, directing them appropriately, and maintaining a professional reception environment. Furthermore, the role holder will support the loading and unloading of office supplies and ensure that office premises are securely locked at the end of each business day.
- In the event of a significant humanitarian emergency, the role holder may be expected to perform duties outside their standard job description and adjust working hours accordingly.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent is required. A Certificate in Secretarial Studies would be a beneficial addition.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an Office Assistant or Cleaner role. Previous experience working with an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) is advantageous.
- Experience operating office machinery such as photocopiers and printers.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in applications like Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write simple English.
- Capability to compose simple reports.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A self-motivated and flexible approach to teamwork.
